Reflections

My Reflections 2012-2013

Learning Goal:  To reflect upon and evaluate your own artwork.
The process of revision is a critical component to the artistic process.   Your commentary concerning the revision process shows your ability to reflect upon the characteristics and assess the merits of one’s personal artwork and the creative process.

Please describe a project that you revised during the creation of a piece of artwork.  Describe how you revised and changed your work.  Discuss how your revisions affected the final product

A project I really revised was the portrait of a loved one. There was only one face that was the main focus of the piece and I had to keep re-doing her nose over and over. I just couldn't get it right. So, I would take pictures of the portrait to see what it looked like on camera. Using my camera really helped because I could see the proportions better. I finally noticed the nose needed to be larger and once I fixed that, the face actually looked like the picture. In the end, the whole portrait looked realistic and like the actual picture of my sister and I.

Select a completed project.  If you were to re-do this project, what would you do differently.

If I was to chose a project to re-do, I would probably chose my M.C. Escher sketchbook. I could have taken more time on really drawing something similar and representative to the artist. The neatness could have been better too so I think re-doing that sketchbook would be my top choice.
